Questions for kids sleeping bag? Discussion on '' initiated by , . Yardes tough. So I'm looking to buy my 5 years (yes, two) your first sleeping bag. I'm curious what others have for their children. None of the good brands seem to produce sleeping bags for children and I don't want a cheap Kmart special. I'd like to buy something that will last you a while but ask me if I buy a big bag that cools on it. My requirements: 3 seasonal bag for hiking in the Vic Mountains Not too heavy (I would like you to start loading it soon) Small pack (I have to carry 3 bags and 2 stores in my 70L package) It's not too expensive (not so low). The One Planet synthetic bags start at $160. One of us Ski pass: gold I don't take my kids on a tour, but something to take into account - they'll soon need more weight, cheaper bags to spend the dream and school camps. Some of you won't mind if he doesn't come home. Mine have Anaconda specials (0 or 5 degrees I think) that have lasted more than 5 years without tears or zip problems and my children are hard on them - I can say how they have been packaged when they arrive home. Could you go for a summer (jump option) and a more expensive winter to reduce at least the summer trekking load? Would that make it easier to find the warm ones you're looking for? Addicted Ski pass: gold I just bought a couple of Roman boys sleeping bags, but to camp by car. I was looking at something like the Exploring Planet Earth Kids, Buckley, but I decided to get camping bags for now I'm going to look at walking back when they're a little bigger and able to walk more than 2 kms. Most of the outdoor shops have versions for children for about $50 for synthetics. A Local We have our youngest a Deuter sleeping bag (see, for example ) It's been great. I'm not sure about the prices in Oz, but it wasn't scandalous. It has the advantage of being able to extend the standing box as they grow. In retrospect, however, its size and weight packaged is no different from the Mont Zodiac 350 of my wife, so I'm probably going to buy some of those if they're on sale when the next Mont rolls around in Canberra and don't worry about the carved bags again. One of us I have a bag of children's mummy S/H Kathmandu here that would be suitable for young teen at 1500 height but not hot enough for the High Country for itself; I proposed to use my half-bag UL plus its winter batter The GD won't need it, yours if you want it for what I paid for; $45- plus post It is not a bad bag actually and for sale at this time, but it is not as warm as necessary for the High Country except in summer The Pipsqeak is bigger to 5YOs same comments than in the Orb My own children had bags as soon as they slept even though the night was dry because I had spare parts I could cut and elephant bags standing from my climbing days Actually a S/H bag is the way to go if you can buy at the right price. lighter, warmer, more compact and a much longer life I also have 2 very hot Rays bags suitable for 5YOs Problem is that they are not compact enough for your needs unless they take them in their own bags. Get a 5YO to walk more than a pair of klicks tho? So maybe that's not unrealistic to get them to carry their own SB. Part of the furniture Ski pass: gold Yes my 3 have bags now (mounts mostly), all the synonyms like pipsqueak were not hot enough (learning the hard way there) but I guess it was 6 or 7 when we updated them. both my children (now 10 and 12) have small sleeping bags. If we hike or ski tour they carry their sleeping bags and mattress and clothes I make the shop/shop and the food and the stove and all the other things. best advice is that they bring a friend if possible... the boys will walk more and more if they're with their peers. Grumblebum Ski pass: gold A long time ago, but a couple of decades ago we found that REI was great for warm children's things. Separate names with comma. Useful searches Separate names with comma.
